A simple 2/4 beat

In contrast to the 3 line system, Tombak is divided into 4 sections and they are indicated by + - symbols rather than lines. In this system, a + or - is put on top of the notation to indicate Middle Area or Rim Area respectively. If there are no signs then the Edge Area is assumed where the stroke has to be played.
